Official Jubilee Concert performance featuring Marjorie Lawrence with an orchestra, Capitol Theatre, in 1951. Capitol Theatre opened in 1927, with more than 1000 seats. The theatre was was used for plays and films as well as dances. Many a first date was at the Capitol.
Silent movies
Silent movies were shown in its early days, accompanied by live music. Capitol Theatre was demolished in 1980 amid public outcry, and Capitol Cinemas were constructed on the site. The site will once again be redeveloped as the Capitol Hotel.
