Ritz Cinema Birkenhead
Photograph of entrance foyer taken September 1937 prior to opening. These long deep foyers were capable of accommodating the 2,500 seated auditorium, the tall steel support columns were clad in rose pink mirrors rising through the Art Deco panels enclosing the upper foyer level. Ahead the wide stairs lead up to the restaurant and circle areas. Although refurbished for the second opening in January 1947 this area had survived the 1940 bombings intact.
