I was a projectionist at the Odeon in the early 1970’s. Stan Close was my Chief and John Spilsbury was the senior. Bernard Goldthorpe was the manager and his assistants name was Nicky, she moved to Stockton’s Odeon from the Pavilion Newcastle.

Hi I worked with a lady at the Odeon Newcastle/Tyne who was an assistant manager with Peter Talbot, who was called Nicky Dirom, would this be the same lady you mentioned in your text ?
Hi, that must be her, a very nice lady she was.
I could not find any information in Cinema Treasures regarding the Queens Cinerama, did you work at the Queens at all. Last film I watched there was Close Encounters of the Third Kind presented in 70mm.
Hi Keith, apologies for the late reply, yes I began my cinema career at the Queens in 1974, and also worked at the Odeon too.. There is a page related to the Queens on C.T. plus some of my photos, it was a great place to work, the giant screen, using 70mm projection (philips DP70 Mechs) yeah remember Close Encounters in 1978…
