This early 1930’s rare colour publication by Holophane shows different lighting effects onto cinema features. The Forum cinema had early Holophane lighting and colour variation equipment installed and Holophane used this image in their advertising, here we see the splay wall design given two different appearances. The Forum was originally built and owned by Mrs Esther Harriet Burns who also owned the Electra Picture House Cheadle. In April 1936 Mrs Burns sold the Electra and Forum cinemas to ABC. Then after moving to Stockport built and opened the Davenport Theatre in June 1937. Having liked the Holophane lighting at the Forum, employed Mollo & Egan for all the interior works at the new Davenport using Holophane for and with great effect within the auditorium.
