Photograph showing a detailed model of the proposed theatre on display during 1929. here we see Mrs Stanley Baldwin who opened the public exhibition, viewing the model. This model was constructed to the original plans by George Coles, it is interesting to see that the name of the cinema on the front plaque in 1929 was “The Duchess Cinema”. However, the whole project was put on hold because of the Great Depression between 1929 - 1932. Construction of the new cinema, now renamed the Troxy began during late 1932.
