This May 1949 aerial view shows the Pavilion and the adjacent Regal. I cannot identify the theatre across London Road from the Regal. It is not the Plaza, which was some distance away on Witton Street (a 1944 advert for a tailor’s shop in the local newspaper gave the shop’s address as Witton Street ‘opposite the Plaza’). The mystery theatre has been demolished and a street created on the site is called ‘Theatre Court’.
