Having established an early financial association with Union Theatres (later GUO/Event Cinemas), BCC obtained priority access to major productions such as the ‘first talkie’ - WB’s ”The Jazz Singer”, which brought sound to Townsville on 5th August 1929 at the Wintergarden.
