Greg Lynch says – After The Newmarket Picture Theatre closed for movies in 1962, the Melbourne band “The Blue Jays” moved in and performed live (twice a week) to sell out dance crowds. They went on to record on the Crest label, and together with Tony Worsley became national recording stars. All of this began on the stage of The Newmarket Picture Theatre.
