Pictured – Mr. Robert McLeish Jr, operator of the “McLeish Chain Of Theatres from Wed, 7 Oct 1953. In 1917 Mr. Robert McLeish Sr, leased the NEWMARKET THEATRE, and then in 1918 acquired the Clifton Hill Theatre. In 1921 he took built the Rivoli Theatre, in Camberwell, along with the Regal Theatre, in Hartwell, “THE NEWMARKET PICTURE THEATRE was the beginning of The McLeish chain of theatres – Rob McLeish Jr, stepped in to run the business upon the passing of his father, Robert McLeish Sr, Wed, 7 Oct 1953.
