Wonderama at the DaBel

The DaBel was a Cinerama theatre for a brief time in the 1960’s. Wonderama was a lens developed by Dayton projectionist and Cinerama expert John Harvey. It was designed to correct focus on a deeply curved screen. Not much is known about this lens…the patent (#4154514) does not give much information about the lens.

John Harvey had this projection system set-up in his home. Watched him project a print of “Blazing Saddles' there in 1979. Lowell Thomas, an early investor in the process, was present.
