Strand Theater
May 25, 1949. The Strand is here playing Vittorio De Sica’s rare first film, the 1941 “Rose Scarlatte.” Until seeing this newspaper ad, I never knew the movie ever played in the U.S. It now survives only with the French or Spanish dubbed soundtracks. The original Italian is lost, and the film is extremely difficult to find.
