Grand Opening story from The Plain Speaker of Hazleton PA, July 14, 1950. The Laurel actually had a soft open (though not in so many words) on Saturday, June 24.
I personally have no copyright interest in this photo and caption, which I have uploaded for the fair use scholarly purpose of establishing the official opening day of this drive-in. Any copyrights on this photo and caption have probably lapsed due to non-renewal, but don’t take my word for it.
