Ritz/ABC Aldershot
Left hand side towards the original proscenium. Splay wall grille with pierced ornate plaster grille. At the base of each grille was a faux balcony front - sadly hacked off during the conversion works 40 years ago. The grilles were purely decorative features. The Wurlitzer organ pipes were in chambers below the stage with sound shutters at the front of an apron to the stage. The Wurlitzer still exists intact and safely packed way in storage. It is believed that it is for sale for the right price. The organ was removed in 1972 & went to the Isle of Wight. It then later was removed and went into the ownership of Roy Trawford in Spalding, Lincolnshire, England. It was sold following the death of Roy Trawford and is now in storage.
