The 8,240 feature films that I list in that line of the marker, I know are true, because I went through all the microfilm at the library and wrote down every movie that ever played at the 41 Twin from opening in 1948 until it closed in 2001. That was hundreds of microfilm reels. My criteria for what I considered a “new” movie was that if it was listed and then as long as it was gone for at least a week but came back say a month later, it was still counted as a new movie. As you know drive-ins didn’t always get first run films and with the 41 Twin having 2 screens to fill movies for and eventually by 1981, 4 screens; that meant movie would be coming back again to fill those open slots. Now there were times movies were listed as Midnight Horror shows but no titles given. So those movies didn’t get listed as I didn’t know what the titles were. Also cartoons were shown MANY times in the 50’s and 60’s but again no titles were given, so not added to the total list of movies played. I did put all 8,000 plus movies into a booklet form so it would be a pretty complete list of what Hollywood put out there for consumption.

I am not sure who actually wrote the above comment, but whoever it was deserves credit for their dedication. I have always enjoyed looking at movie ads up until the time when they started to change in the mid 80’s to a more phone book like listing to accommodate the new megaplexes, but some of those old drive in ads were a bit much for me at times. I was amazed at some of the titles they came up with for the horror and biker movies.

StanMalone - I am the one who did all the work for the above mentioned movie list. Thank you for the kind words! It took quite a long time but it was a fun adventure seeing what all played at my favorite drive-in over the years. I even worked at the 41 Twin the last 2 years it was open. I did a lot of filming there too and I put it into a documentary of the place. Copies can be purchased at the following site…. https://theater-films-llc.square.site/
