Given that the film on show is THE BROWNING VERSION, this photograph of the Odeon must have been taken in either 1951 or 1952 and was possibly one of the first films it screened following its conversion from the Liberty.

The Odeon had the record for the longest running movie in Australia. It was “Doctor in the House”. It ran for eight months with two showings daily and three on Saturdays. I was employed there as a Page/Office boy and assistant projectionist from 1956 to 1959. The Manager of both the Odeon and Times theatrette at the time was Frank Budd, Assistant Manager was Bill Buchanan, both lovely guys.
