The Towers lobby gets a makeover with new ceiling fixtures, glass brick, and poster boxes — along with Christmas decorations because the new Towers – empty for eight years — will launch on Christmas Eve 1939. Somehow the mosaic tile of the original was not carpeted over – a common approach in the redesigns of this period.
