“Large Theatre Destroyed
MELBOURNE .Tuesday.
The Colloseum Theatre, Ballarat,
believed to be the largest in the
Commonwealth, was, destroyed by a
fire early this morning.
The Athanaeum Theatre and several
adjoining buildings were severely
damaged. The total loss is estimated
at £35,000.^ The Colloseum,
which was constructed of wood and
galvanised iron, could seat 6,000.”
