Showcase Twin
A 1970 Terry Horton architectural sketch of the Showcase Cinema remodel in which the vast lobby area receives a totally automated 150-seat mini-cinema. If you look closely through the first and second windows on the front of the cinema (third and fourth windows on the left), you’ll see the addition of the staircase taking you up to the Penthouse screening room which drastically changed the lobby area but left the original road house auditorium the same. Because some road house shows were booked for four weeks, the Showcase probably sensed lean days at the back end of the road show runs and decided to have an additional revenue source. Also, with a new twin screen both inside and out in Lawton, there were marketing considerations, as well. The film, “Patton,” was the first Penthouse showing.
