Pavilion De Luxe
This September 1928 aerial view shows the Pavilion on a much-narrower Commercial Street. Widening on the north side has taken the carriageway closer to the Salvation Army building with the towers, which still stands (2015). There is a drop in level, so Rhodes Place does not access Commercial Street any more. The photo also has the location of the Shipley Picture House on Briggate facing the junction with Charles Street. Beyond there is the site on which the Glenroyal was to open four years later.
