Will try and contact someone with the historical society in the town to see if I can find out anything… particularly when the Wurlitzer was removed and where it is today!
We appreciate Cinema Treasures and always will as its the go-to place on the internet to learn about old theatres especially the ones being restored with tender loving care by theatre minded folks. I tour many theatres each year and always mention Cinema Treasures. Thank you Ross, Patrick and Ken.
Don: I enjoyed reading your lengthy post. Have been to the Polk Theatre in Lakeland and heard that theatre organ. Don’t know if you are a new CT member. If so, welcome aboard.
I see there are accent colored lights on the former Carolina Theatre uptown corner now. Hope to see work started on the theatre and rebuilding of the lobby in 2015!!
Just learned of this theatre while at the Center Theatre 75th birthday party in Monroe NC…David Nelms and Nathan Hopper are restoring it.

The theatre site called Cinema Tour has many photos of this theatre before it was demolished.
Joe: Thank you for the book link!
Does Wilmington have any historic theatres still in existence and in operation?
A beautiful linen postcard of the Bailey.
Such a shame that only a facade exists though the citizens tried to save the theatre.
A beautiful organ that I will see today while in Monroe NC…thank you Nathan Nelms and Dave Hopper.
Can’t believe this nor how the Adams looks! Is anything being done to restore these historical sites?
How in the world can a theatre like this end up in this deplorable condition? Didn’t the locals realize what they had?
What’s the current status?
So sad that this seaside town has lost their theatre.

Such a shame this theatre and many others are either gone or closed..been reading about the Manor, the Bailey, the Ritz and the Colony.
The dome is exactly like the restored dome in the Hollywood Theatre/Gowanda NY.
Great to read that the auditorium dome has been replastered. Hope to read more positive updates!
Love the linen postcard picture!
I plan on calling the theatre and arrange a tour on behalf of Cinema Treasures this month!
Don: The Center is on FB. If you are on FB, please post your theatre organ knowledge there too!

Nice! Thanks Irv!
So many theatres in downtown WPB and the theatre in Palm Beach..all gone now..such a shame!
I visited this town a few summers ago and was disappointed to learn that the Lake is no longer in this quaint lake village.
Wish the Town of Palm Beach had preserved this historical theatre!
