There’s a nice old photograph of the Esquire at the very back of Canter’s if you want to know what it looked like. Canter’s kept the structure of the marquee, and you can still see where the ticket booth use to be, even though it’s now bricked up completely.
Two of the old ovular, flashing Pussycat logos have been rescued from storage and have been hung inside and outside the theatre, which now shows straight porn in addition to gay smut.
This theatre is now demolished. Nothing left but an empty lot.

Demolition begins in about three months, apparently.
The Metropolitan website says it’ll be reopened as a theatre in summer 2006. Yay.
Make that “February 2006”.
Gutted and closed as of February 2005. Possibly to be replaced by office space.
