I was in the mall on Sunday and you’re right,it is a ghost town. The lobby of the twin is used for retail space.
Across the road the sign for the Summit 6 is still in view although most of the letters, thanking patrons for 15 years of patronage,have fallen down.
I have some friends who were projectionists at the theatres and they remember those days well.
I recently saw the movie National Treasure:Book of Secrets here. Seeing this film on the Palace’s big screen with its elegant surroundings certainly made this special.
I was in North Tonawanda today and found the “Riv” to be in tip-top shape.
I also stopped at the local library where I had the opportunity to look through Mr.Basil’s book which I was very impressed with. When it goes on sale I plan on getting a copy for my home library.
Council Chairman Robert Anderson Jr. opened the business meeting in recognition of planning board member John McNab, who passed away Wednesday morning at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. McNab also served on the city’s tourism advisory board and was active in other city issues.

I was sad to read that Ike Erlichman who booked films for the North Park along with the other Dipson theatres has died.

In the article above the author talks about seeing a movie on the big screen and how it differs from viewing it on TV. I couldn’t agree more.
I’m glad the Palace didn’t abandon showing films when they added live entertainment to the venue.

When the Center became a triplex,each theater had a name. There was the Center, Backstage,and Penthouse.
If I’m not mistaken, this theater was destroyed by an explosion in the early 80’s.
I believe it was once part of the Dipson-Basil chain. When they pulled out it became the Oscar Micheaux Theater and featured black films.
