OMG, I know Kathy and Charles (Chuck) Ludwig! I am in the Jamestown area and plan to give them a call asap! Do you happen to live in the Jamestown area and how is it that you have become interested in this theatre? Amd I think the seat capacity number has been changed from 1100 to 1230, correct? I also plan to call Century 21 and ask them the asking $.
DakRoland: “An item of note… The theater’s official name is two words, "Winter Garden”, not ‘Wintergarden’.“ As you can see this has now been corrected thanks to CT member, Ken Roe in the UK.
Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job in putting this book together about the Warner Theatre, Erie’s gem. Thank you for doing this for us theatre buffs and let us know when it can be purchased.
Barb: My husband and I met you last summer and it was good to read your recent posts and to knnow that the Warner Theatre book is near completion. Let me know when and where it will be available. BTW, we have the Warner Theatre poster framed and in a prominent place!
Lost Memory: I have missplaced your email and can’t recall it from “memory so I guess it is "lost”. I believe you have my email so please contact me when you read this post.
Movie Bob: I am truly interested in seeing someone purchase the former Wintergarden and perhaps incorporate the Lucy-Desi theme as a possible idea since the Desilu Playhouse is nearby with gift shops and museum. At the moment I believe the city now owns the building and has it on the market at a very reasonable price. If you knew Gus Nestle well are you perhaps in the Jamestown area? And I would love to see the photo of Lucy since I am a Lucy Festival volunteer. www.lucy-desi.com
“Built in 1926 as one of America’s most elaborate "movie palaces”, the Tampa Theatre today is a fiercely protected and generously supported landmark.“ Perhaps the Cayuga County Arts Council should read this since their Auburn Schine is an Eberson, too!
Well, if this was a photo taken in May of 2007 and January 2007 was to “unveil of the facade” then they missed the mark on the marquee by not getting that important piece of history restored, imo.
“The Cayuga County Arts Council will unveil the facade at The Auburn Schines’ Theatre on Friday January 12, 2007 at 4pm.” This being the first sentence when I clicked on “Cayuga County Arts Council” there should be more to tell concerning this theatre by now.
Lost Memory: I’m not sure what is taking place. All I know is that I drove through Auburn enroute to another nearby town and didn’t see any activity going on.
Thanks for your recent Carolina Theatre post which I have cut and pasted to someone in the Charlotte area who has been involved with the idea of restoring this theatre for 20 years! This person has seen personality conflicts, ETC. that has kept this theatre from being restored!

I would love to see some interior photos of this theatre.
Lost Memory: The night photo of the lighted marquee in your 11/1/06 photo really shows off the theatre’s beautiful marquee and all of the neat colors.
I caught a glimpse of this theatre marquee while watching a show on HGTV and had to go and check it out here on CT.
DakRoland: I would also like to know the names of the original owners and the architect(s), etc.

DakRoland: Could you please email me @ and let me know the name of Gus Nestle’s daughter as her last name wouldn’t be Nestle.

Lost Memory: Your October 3, 2005 photos are wonderful, too.
http://www.cinematour.com/tour.php?db=us&id=6760 This photo site is worth posting again as the photos are spectacular especially the ticket kios photo.
Lost Memory: These photos are wonderful. I plan to be in FL next March so will check out this theatre then.

I totally agree! We need to see recent photos and the next time I pass through Auburn I’ll take a personal look-see.

Lost Memory: I prefer to remember and view the August 11, 2007 b/w photo. Notice the banner that reads…“Bank Nite Every Thursday”.
The marquee is in terrible shape as is this Eberson art deco former Auburn gem which is such a shame.
Mark in NC: I just clicked on the theatre website and found the directions near Asheville.
It’s a sign of the times when I read the word…“Twin”.
Mark in NC: Where is Burnsville NC?
