Ive been busy as of late…not a lot of good movies playing as of late. Next one im seeing is 42 although oblivion looks great in 4k. I wonder if imax will install laser projection in the digital imax theater. The sharper the better.
Before I went to see Olympus has Fallen two days ago….i noticed something new…the front of the building now has a giant imax sign right next to the classic amc sign. The preshow abruptly ended when the trailers started. The presentation was very good and the sound mix was decent. Movie was good popcorn fun.
The theater count should be changed since the number of seats in the imax theater are fewer than the original auditorium. I saw Zero Dark Thirty in one of the smaller theaters and enjoyed it. What was weird was that the raised the lights during the previews and then dim it for the feature presentation and kept it that way through the main credits of the movie, making it a bit hard exiting the theater.
When did Lincoln Square do reserved seating for IMAX? This idea, which AMC is also using for its highest grossing theaters in the tri-state area and beyond, is great. As for Oz 3D imax, that will be only digital 3d standard and 2d. Is Die Hard imax playing today?
I agree blacknoi. This year will mark 10 years since the Best Buy that replaced the outers opened and did much better business than the theater. The Sam Goody/FYE/Forever 21 that replaced the inners 15 years ago did moderate business and was popular with the teen crowd.
It would be cool if the AMC in Rockaway got the same features that the AMC in Paramus has, such as luxurious seats as well as an ETX screen. Ranking the three AMC 16 plexes, this is third, with the Garden State 16 leading the way while Clifton Commons is second.
Last month, the theater turned 30 without any fanfare. In recent years, this theater has shown a lot of Indian and foreign films to cater the rapidly growing audience who crave them the most. Maybe in the next 30 or so years it should need an upgrade like other Loews/Sony houses.

On Sunday one of the auditoriums was evacuated due to a gas smell. It turned out to be that someone left a pepper spray in one of the seats.

This coming december, this theater turns 20. Times have changed. THis theater still offers plenty of indie films that rockaway doesn’t offer.
What are the specs for the Loews house? Is it still the same as it was when it first opened, but with a digital 4k projector?
