Was it known how the fire started?
Opened with “The looters” and “The purple plain”.
The screen came from the closed down Chinese Gardens Cinema in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.
Opened on 2/9/1959 and closed on 8/9/1984 and sold by Greater Union to the Assemblies of God Church.
The facade is still there.
Address is 75 Essington Lewis Avenue. Opened on 26/9/1946 and closed in circa 1964. The site is now vacant.
Opened on 17/12/1998 as 6 screens. 1201 seats.
The entrance(and exit?) roads were off Shandon Court.
Correction – first run news, not nfws.
Does the owner of the house know it used to be a drive-in theatre?
The site might now be the car park for the Childrens Hospital Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus(it’s fan shaped like the drive-in’s ramps)?
1695 seats.
Correction – Fulton Street, not Futon Street.
Located on the south east corner of Blacks Road and Dally Road. The streets on the site now are called Feature Court, Union Court, and Futon Street.
The site before the drive-in was a market garden.
This is a flea market and farmers market on the drive-in on sundays only too.
Why the name Circle?
Opened with “Honolulu”.
The entrance road is still there too. 1200 cars.
The soft opening was on 5/9/1961. The site is now a drainage retention area. The exit sign is still there, and one speaker post too.
Also opened with a cartoon(not named), first run nrws and “Drummer man”. Closed in 1o63 afterI-81 cut off the drive-in from Upper Front Street.
The drive-in was surrounded by Dyson Road, Blyth Street, McKinna Road and Barbara Street. The entrance and exit roads were on the Dyson Road side(i think?). The three streets on the site now are Hepburn Road, Bogart Court and Fonda Court.
Was the drive-in operating when the fire in the concession stand happened?
The site is now a shopping centre(Collins Road Square) and a book store(Half Price Books).
Was it known how the fire started in the concession stand? Could the not afford to rebuild the cocession stand?
