Here are my pictures from November 2010. The property is in pretty good shape, except for some potholes in the driveway and the brush reclaiming the outer fringes of the lot.
Status should be changed to Demolished. The Cook was located roughly at about 328 N. Lucas Street. It was torn down for the back entrance to the post office. What a shame.
The only drive-in I could find on US 52 was located under the southern portion of Northwoods Mall, from about the southernmost anchor store to where the Hooters and Outback (7643 Rivers Avenue) are located. If this is the same theater, then the city should be changed to North Charleston. This theater was gone by 1989 at the latest.
Here is my picture from November 2010. I’d imagine that this would’ve been one of Louisville’s Negro theaters, as this has always been a black neighborhood.
I didn’t realize that building had a theater history. I’m glad Centro Ybor was able to incorporate it. Just for clarity’s sake, the address should probably be changed to 7th Avenue. I don’t know why (or when) they decided to push Broadway all the way back to 50th Street.
This one was at about 5988 Airport Road. The Airport Road Shopping Center was built on part of the property, but some of the ramps remain in the rear of the property.

It was at about 106 Hunt Street. It was gone by 1994 at the latest.
The address should be 4000 Howard Street.
I think this one would’ve been at about 2801 NW 13th Street. It’s been a Sam’s Club since at least 1995.

Great write-up, Nick. This is a beautiful building that deserves a new life. However, Centro Espanol’s address is 2306 N. Howard, not 1305.
It doesn’t appear on the 1976 USGS topographical map.

Try Elm Grove? That’s what this side of town is called. Maybe it wasn’t considered part of Wheeling at the time.
