Looks like age has finally caught up with the organs. The organs have been inoperable since Sunday. They have been working on them, but may not have them for at least the next few days, if not more. I can’t imagine it being easy to get parts for them.
We bought a new set of polarizing gels for the 3-D. Both port windows have them. They were a better quality than the old ones. They seem to work better at blocking the light. The lens on the second machine had focus issues last year. We took it apart and replaced some of the elements and that fixed the problem. We also tried a different company for the 7000Watt lamps this year. These lamps are supposed to work better with the extreme angle of the projectors. So far they definitely do.
Vito. Email already came out that all optional shows except one, were cancelled. They won’t be adding them in December. 70MM 3-D is working great. We got some new gels and we fixed the focus on the second projector.
No changes at all from the last 2 years. Tickets sales must be slow. All optional shows were cancelled already. Most of the late night Friday and Saturday shows are out.
One of the trusses was lowered to work on it. It has the wreaths and gold balls on it. The ice rink is no longer on the band car elevator. It comes up on elevator 3 and stays there.
I hope this works. Here are some pictures I took today. During each show there are 2 projectionists, at least 8 spot operators and countless other stagehands.
Ken, getting back to that 1929 theater opening. I’m pretty sure it was the Lily theater. It’s only 2 blocks to the east of Tyson Avenue. You mentioned Tucson Avenue. I’m pretty sure it’s Tyson.
My bad….organs are back already. Good job by the repairman.

It’s been about 5 years since we have run through New Years.
That’s another surprising thing. Last year, there were large sections that were empty for the 9:00 AM shows. This year, they are filled.
Better than good. I’m shocked to see so few empty seats. Even the 10:00 PM shows on the weekends have been packed.

The spotlight operators are still here and being used. We do still use film here at times.
We still go on the buzzes today.
All Xenon bulbs now. All spots are used throughout the year off and on.
There seems to be some major renovations going on at the theater.
Finally going to start upgrading to stereo in existing screens. Woohoo!!!!
Slow business but still going strong. Recent and upcoming festivals are helping.
I’m surprised they closed early too. At least they have the Cafe rented again. Too bad they won’t upgrade the sound in the theaters there.
