I used to go to this theatre from when it opened to maybe around 1970’s. Lots of first run horror and science fiction movies played here. Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street etc. Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte was another one I saw here. Very plain inside but I think they used a curtain in the beginning and opened and closed it. Before it was a twin. Had a seating slope also. A good presentation style if I remember. Bigger wide screen and good stereo sound. I miss the place.
This lobby is one of a kind and in viewing these pictures I would say one of the most beautiful theatres ever designed and built. Tragic it is not with us anymore. The new and modern is often inferior and simply the cheaper way. This theatre was not that!
This theatre still is open in 2016 and is now a performance hall in most cases. Has been maintained very well over the years and is in downtown Tacoma. An iconic building in this lovely seaport city in Washington state.
What a great pic. Lots of plaster detail left of this fine old theatre. Like the proscenium and molding detail. Stage background is also very interesting. Post more images of ceiling etc.
Wow- dramatic and beautiful proscenium. Also the side wall treatments. This theatre still is unique and elaborate compared to most remodeled auditoriums if indeed that is the case here. Love the lighting.
Nice streamline moderne interior and curved proscenium. Probably was changed due to cinemascope needs. Lots of lovely theatres went this route. Unfortunate but a big wide screen is advantage too. The Egyptian in LA is a prime example. Only the ceiling is left from the very elaborate designs in the past.

Creative and unique design everywhere. An adventure in theatre interior design. This fun with theatre design will never be seen again unfortunately.

Nice marquee and signage, Interior images would be nice also. Doors are traditional art deco. A well maintained theatre outside anyway.
