As a kid I always liked going to the Hill. The Hill showed a lot of Disney films. I am talking in the early 1970’s. I do remember going to the Senate to see a Disney film. We parked in the parking garage next to the Harrisburg Hospital. Looking forward to seeing your photos.
Yes I did the Senate entry. The theater in New Cumberland is the West Shore. It is still in business. Do you remember the Hill on Market Street in Camp Hill? Looking forward to seeing those pictures on your blog.
I think you have me confused with John S in York. John is a very knowledgeable guy. As a kid, did you ever go to the Paxtang? John sent me a great story about when he was a kid and would attend Saturday matinees. The Lincoln school still stands. The Harrisburg schoold district remodeled her several years ago. Did you know that there was a Peoples Drug Store in the Penway for several years. I would very much like to see your pictures of the Penway and Rio theaters.
Penway14…I am assuming that you took your name from the Penway on State street. You would happen to have in your proprietorship any pictures of the Penway or Rio theaters in Harrisburg would you?
Thats true Don..I didn’t think about that. Willaim you are right…Employees always see the money coming in but never take into account the expenses. That is why they are employees.
If the lease was up and the owner increased the rent to much Landmark would of course leave..thats business. I am sure the owner could pretty much get his asking price for the rent. Now, in todays economic climate, that may not be the case.
Well said longislandmovies. Now I have a question. Lets just say he isn’t doing the business that he should be doing. Wouldn’t the studios stop sending him the films? Now, I receive his weekly emails. He seems to be getting very good films to play. Something else to look at. What is he paying himself per year?
Thank you RoxyVauderville for your comment. I have been to your theatre in Northampton several years back on a Sunday evening. The place was packed. Your an excellent showman.
Your just like Norelco, you do have quite the memory.
Penway, you said you lived on liberty street near the Penway. I know a guy who grew up in that neighbor. What years did you live there?

Norelco…..How are you doing? I thought you dropped off the face of the earth.
Great photos JohnS..thank you for sharing.
Anyone of pictures of the interior?
I seen pictures of the Edna on the website Cinematour…What a beautiful movie theater
Ceasar….if they are making money they will stay there till they don’t.
I think we have to follow the money on this one. I also think the owner is a whiner.
A paint job and window replacement…..I hate to see nice brick painted over…In a couple of years it will look like crap.
I was past this theater on Sunday. The marquee said “movies coming soon” I wonder how soon.
Jordan, I don’t think you were around in the 1970’s if you think this is a bad economy.
Very nice photo Lost Memory. The neon tubing has since been replaced and the marquee looks much better. One exception….That blue has to go.

I think feathers have been ruffled.

My thoughts exactly longislandmovies.
Longislandmovies…what is your take on non profit?
Maybe Tom is not a very good businessman…Has that been looked at?
Maybe Tom Kiefaber needs to make a roadtrip to the Lafayette theater and speak with Peter Apruzzese and company and see how they run the Lafayette.
