Howard Hughes had to go to court to get this film released because it was considered indecent. All this fuss over Ms Russels assets in 3D. It was sometimes advertised at the time as “JR in 3D, need we say more?”. Did anyone ever see it in the 3D process? The only time I ever saw it was on the old Million Dollor Movie. View link
I remember the Friday we opened the doors for this double bill. The first show sold out at 12:00. We had 650 seats and sold almost 700 tickets. Kids sat on their parents lap or 2 to a seat. The first three weeks it was like this. Both films had played the Haven before but not together. This was the PG “Saturday Night Fever”. View link
Nothing in the Walker was allowed to be destroyed when it was converted to a store. The theatre could be put back together very easily. Blame UA (who else) that this is not a theatre anymore.
Regarding the above posts. The pic Warren posted of that marquee is not the one that fell during the snowstorm, although it could have been refaced. It was more boxy then that one. Usually when they did marquees over they just refaced them so that might be what was underneath. Also somebody else mentioned about the Oasis running Rocky Horror and being rundown. I think you may be confusing it with the Arion. I don’t think the Oasis played that at midnight and suprisingly the Oasis was very well maintained right until the end. I don’t think UA must have thought they would be getting rid of it because they had done some renovations including a new curtain a few years before they closed it.
It’s funny I remember so well having my father take me to see this movie “Journey to the Far Side of the Sun” because it had a stage show of Bob McAllistar from Wonderama and the space suits from Apollo 12. Now I knew that the astronauts were not real but now I read the space suits were reproductions as well. I was so into the space program back then and now I read it and it seems silly. View link
It’s funny in 1969 when the Wagner played “I am Curious Yellow” they listed it as Queens. Meanwhile this theatre is right on the border of Brooklyn and the Oasis which was nowhere near Brooklyn was listed as Brooklyn. View link
Christmas of 1970 the C.V. joined a neighborhood run of “Lovers & Other Strangers"

Christmas of 1970 this film played three packed weeks. Remember that catch phrase?

I saw this in 1971 and for some strange reason can’t recall a thing about this version?

I think this was from the 1971 re-release because it was still being shown in 70mm.

This was never called Ridgewood by any of the stores on Fresh Pond Road, always Glendale
Great shot Warren, and we could have played “Screeno” :)

Yes it was the Oasis Roller Rink for a few years.
In 1974 the Ridgewood had the Disney summer film festival instead of the Oasis.

In 1974 the Mayfair played Gerard Damianos “Memories Within Miss Aggie”.

This originally was on here as City Line Cinema and was later changed
