MORE on Hauppauge Theater: I remember when “The Warriors” was playing there before the “Rocky Horror” crowd was let in. I saw “Silent Scream” there.
I used to have a “Night of the Creeps” surgical (paper) mask. We went to the Huntington Shore theater and actually saw this boring movie. The movie ads said “Get your FREE Night of the Creeps mask with ticket purchase”. When me and my friends got there, nobody knew what were talking about, so they got the manager. He was like “Huh? Oh, yeah” and walked into the office and came out with a plastic bag filled with a bunch of the masks. We each got 3 or 4….I doubt anyone else asked or cared for one. I cannot remember one damn thing about this movie! It came out during the “Nightmare on Elm Street” craze…“Deadly Friend”, “House”, “Night of the Comet”, “Fright Night”. Ugh. Makes me wish I was a 21 year old in 1975 or 1965…not 1985. Certainly you guys may agree with me.?
You’re the man LIMOVIES!!!!! How much for everything??????????
i have tons of old shit …. cineplex odeon REAL BUTTER APRONS (NEW)
DIRTY DANCING TUBE SOCKS …(SENT OUT AS A PROMO BEFORE THE MOVIE)
rko windo decals …rko uniform buttons (they say RKO)MUCH MORE
its white and has a UA badge on it …………
WOW!!!! LONGISLANDMOVIES—-I would love to see that Commack drive in jump suit. Does it have the words Commack drive in on it?
i have a commack drive in jump suit the manager gave me ..i loved all that memorabilia back then…
Don’t know…Bloop. I saw Rocky Horror at Haupauge also but in 1980. Also saw JAWS at Haupauge in 75. I missed POLYESTER at RKO but all my friends went without me. Thats awesome that you collected the cards. I actually saved the large popcorn box from RKO when I saw the THE OMEN there…but its now sadly gone. I was a freak when I was a kid about movie memorabilia.

dsslave, I was there as well for “The Omen”. (Left it off my list above.) That was summer 1976. My most memorable viewing experiences was in 1981, for John Water’s “Polyester”. Not only did we love the film, afterwards everybody else dropped or discarded their Odorama cards. Naturally, we were all “Grab ‘em!” ! Still have my original one, and it still smells. The Commack RKO snack bar served hot dogs…which was a little odd for a walk-in (non Drive In) theatres at the time. I believe that Evel Knevel movie is in all “dollar” DVD bins now. dsslave; how come no mentions of the Haupaugge theater on here? That was my “Rocky Horror” theater in the late 1970’s. I saw “Spinal Tap” at the Commack RKO. The Rockville Centre RKO Twin was a squat version of the Commack. I was there once a few years ago.
I remember sitting at the OLD Candlelight diner as a child in 1971 and looking out the window to see EVEL KNEVEL playing at RKO. My father took my family to see it right after. I remember every movie i’ve seen there. From “Westworld” to “The Omen” to “Star Wars” to “All That Jazz” to “Sign of the Times”. I actually have a recording of the outgoing answering message of RKO Commack from 1980 when “Blue Lagoon” and “Empire Strikes Back” was playing AND they were doing separate admission midnight shows of “WIZARDS” and “LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT”
Thats about when i think it closed 87 or 88 ……
Movies I have seen at the Commack RKO Twin: Beast of Blood,Taste the Blood of Dracula, Spinal Tap, Angel Heart, Mel Brook’s Silent Movie, King Kong , King Kong Lives, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, When A Stranger Calls. Wow, that’s some time span! I did submit pix of the Commack RKO to this site and hope they will post them with the listing. I believe the theater closed in the late 1980’s? Didn’t everything leave us then?
I started going here in the early 1970’s. I think the first one I saw was “Dracula Has Risen from the Grave.” My father dropped me off, and I went in alone. Excellent!
i do not have a pic of this theater……..strange as it was one of my all time best theater……
