Joe Hermes is the Mayor of this town of Edna. The original theatre seated appx. 1000. In the early 70’s part of the stage
was extended out and approximately 10 rows in the front were removed. The seats are all still in the theatre, some need upholstry work. The seats in the balcony are the original seats. Over 1 mile of Neon alone on this Theatre.
The Edna theatre was NEVER a part of the Frels theatre chain. It belonged to a rival, Long theatres, based in Bay City, TX. It also had in excess of 900 seats, is still standing, and is locally owned by Joe Hermes in Edna, TX
