This is a great theatre…one of the best I’ve ever had the chance to visit.

Yes, this theatre is in Reisterstown. I lived accross the street in 1993-1994. It was in a Shopping Center with a Mars, Woolworth’s and an Ames Dept. Store. I posted a Fall 1994 photo.

Great photo Bob! I’m posting one of the front of the theatre from 1988.

I added two photos of the 9 Cine in the mall from Dec. 1991. The Plaza 4 in the parking lot was closed then. I remember there was also an amc theatre in a strip mall nearby.

I’m adding a photo of the actual 9 screen theatre that was inside the adjacent mall. A 1991 photo.

Very Nice! Second run discount policies saved many great theatres for a time.

Looking nice in this photo! I watched second run double features here in the 90’s. The place was in bad shape then.

Marcel commented about Imperial Theatre on Jun 29, 2011 at 2:58 pm

The Imperial Theatre was located on Rt.9 in Wappingers Falls, NY between Fishkill and Poughkeepsie, if you were driving towards the South Hills Mall, it was in a strip mall to the right. The area is so built up now, I’m not sure of its exact location.

Very true. I have photos of the Egyptian back in 1988 and 1989 and it was going strong. It had three screens. The Vogue and Hollywood were still operating then also.

If anyone in the universe would want to save the classic theatres-you’d think it would be L.A. and Hollywood. Soon, like Hollywood Boulevard, all the theatres in Westwood will lie decrepid, a multiplex will be built and the chain stores and restaurants will come in, and the charm of Westwood will be gone. The new generation doesn’t give a crap about the past and America is pricing itself out of everything. Every street in America looks the same now-same chains, same everything. Blah!

Marcel commented about Haar's Drive-In in makes plea for community support on Jun 7, 2009 at 10:55 am

Yay Giant- Keep Wal-Mart out. This is a great Drive-In centrally located between York, Gettysburg and Harrisburg. I hope the community gets involved and I wish the family well.

Marcel commented about Midnight Movie showing advice on May 21, 2009 at 3:08 pm

As far as I know there is only one theater in the U.S. still doing this and that’s the New Beverly Cinema in West L.A. They have been running double bills of films from the 40’s-present and midnight movies for the past thirty plus years.

Good to hear-nice little theater. I lived near here back in ‘93-'94 and they showed great art house films and it was always packed. I wish the new owners the best.

Marcel commented about Will the recession change movies? on Mar 2, 2009 at 10:59 pm

In New York City since January there’s probably been nearly forty new movies released…all going away in one or two weeks. There are still long lines for “Slumdog Millionaire”, “Milk” and “The Wrestler”…all indies…what’s that tell you? “Let The Right One In' has played at Angelika in the villiage since the fall. I haven’t seen more than ten mainstream movies out of the 92 films I saw last year. Action movies will continue to be successful to teenagers because their attention spans are limited to only putting the cell phone and i-pods down for so long… All the above mentioned films by Long Island Movies are superior, well-written films to talk about and feel something out of. All extremly successful as well. Studios take note.

Marcel commented about Hanover theater closes suddenly on Nov 18, 2008 at 9:56 am

I used to live in Hanover, Pa. There is a sixteen screen theatre less than a mile from this theater, and they do keep films a long time, but less movies being released? I can argue that-maybe less good movies! Back in ‘03-06 this theater was run as a discount theater called Value Cinemas-they had good prices and even tried showing quite a few independent and art house films. This theater was once a single screen in the seventies then later twined then badly cut up further. I do remember it being in pretty decent shape though. The area is growing and it’s near Gettysburg. Better management and a marquee out front may help-you wouldn’t know this theater was there unless you lived there.

Marcel commented about Porn films burnt at 60-year-old drive-in on Nov 6, 2008 at 8:53 pm

Real dumb-could have been some rare stuff in there- I’ve been searching for a lot of Gerard Damiano’s films-can’t find them anywhere. Art is Art- It’s ironic how sex is always looked down upon and viloence is glorified-hence the burning and fire- did they invite Satan?

What an awesome lineup! If anything at all-if you haven’t experienced this theatre-go! It’s probably the best movie palace left in New York State.

Marcel commented about Thirty years ago was the night HE came home! on Oct 30, 2008 at 9:52 pm

They really should have re-released it. I was born in ‘72 so I first saw it in '80. I did enjoy seeing the final minutes of the film on the big screen in the beginning of “Halloween 2.”

Marcel commented about Mall Quad on Oct 26, 2008 at 8:52 pm

bornfromporn- that theater, Monteco Twin Cinema was a seperate theater of exit 106 in Monticello. It started out as a Jerry Lewis Theater and later became a theater showing first run mainstream and foreign films on one side and first run porn from NYC on the other side. This shopping center is now abandoned-last known as the Apollo Outlet Mall. The theater closed in 1986.

I remember seeing “Brainstorm” in 1983- they just opened a new multiplex near me and it was on this really awesome wide screen. I remember it being a really cool movie-I was eleven. Never seen or heard of this film again till now.
