The marquee structure is still there though it isn’t readily recognizable as one, since it no longer has movable letters. Here’s a good photo of it as it looks today:

Is the marquee still up? I remember a flea market setting up in the Pi Alley a year or two after it closed. It didn’t last long.
This venue has been closed for 17 years, yet the alley is still lined with glass cases for movie posters. The ones closest to Washington Street are empty; the ones further down the alley contain announcements from the nearby Old South Meeting House, which would be fine except that they’re a year out of date.
I saw only one film (To Live and Die in L.A.)at the Pi Alley when it had become two bowling alley style auditoriums. The year was 1985. The venues were small but adequate.
When Sack Theaters had a new Disney film to show, they usually put it into this theater.
This was a very good single screen theatre when it first open.
I saw the first run of TOMMY there.
When they twinned it down the middle it really became 2 bowling alleys in appearance.
A deli occupies the Pi Alley’s lobby and a pizzeria the space which housed its two auditoriums. (The theatre closed in 1987 under the ownership of USA Cinemas, who merged with Sack Theatres in December of 1985 and sometime around 1988 with Loews Theatres.)
I think this theatre popped up in the 1970s, carved out of a parking garage building. I saw Ingmar Bergman’s CRIES AND WHISPERS there in 1973.
