For the record: Cal and Tammy work in the same real estate office.
OK: No flaming. Please keep running the theatre and talk about what your plans are for programming? People in the community want to help you do concerts, movies and special events. How do they help you? Do you have plan to put money into restoration of the historic 1914 theatre?
I would like all who posts here to NOT flame, not say ‘i told you so’s not say anything other then about the theater, that is what this site is for nothing else. There is to much negitive about a certain company and people, please, lets keep this site up and running, many people want to hear about the Lawford, not the legal woes or the flaming of people, i run the theater and wish to continue to run it on a productive manor including this site, i remind those that keep posting negitive comments and comments other then the theater, i will ask the sites owners to abolish any postings here for a indefinate period so no one can, lets end it all here at this last posting, if anyone wants to post about the theater, let them, no more of the if’s and’s or but’s PLEASE!
We wondered how long it would take before you made another comment, please Sir and GVI Cal is not invloved, please keep from making any comments on this site. Thank you
See? I told you all. Mr. Warshauer’s credibility remains in tact, as usual.
I have good news on the ‘Lawford Front’. I have the STILL OPEN Lawford Theatre listed for sale now. The Lawford Theatre is currently leased to ‘LawfordTheatre’ for the building and most equipment. The current tenant owns some equipment. I have heard from the owner that he and his staff are doing an excellent job.
Please contact me if you have any interest.
Also, does anyone have any memories or history about the Theatre? I would love to see this site used for its purpose instead of all the upsetting news. Since I have not been able to post pictures to this site, I will try to get them on a site and let you know. I’ll keep you posted.

Please keep ALL comments to yourself, this site was closed because of the back biting and the flaming that was being said, i want this site to be productive, all comments here are about a company, they are not about the true theater, please respect what i and Cinema Treasures had posted, thank you.
Larry is misinformed or a patsy. The theatre is for sale and he did not get an e-mail form anyone to that effect as the broker will not be in until tomorrow. More lies from Mr. Brennan? Cal is accepting names and offers. Let’s end this string here as we were requested to do so and let it play out quietly.
Thank you Larry, its been quite a ordeal from those folks over at “Grande Venues' a tough way to learn something but i did. I try hard to keep the good work going and enjoy many a nice people i have met because of it, here’s to you and yours!
Its good to hear that the theatre is doing well. I emailed Maloof Reality and they have advised me that the theatre is not for sale.
The Lawford Theater is open still being run by Mr. Brennan still paying rents to the owner of the theater, this theater will not engage in any more comments made by or from GVI,You need only to read all the comments above, do a internet search on Grande Venues (Mike Novelli or Paul Warshauer) to know what the truth is. You can also call the theater at any time and find out that Mr Brennan still runs the theater and pays rent/lease to Mr. Mcarthy.
We also keep documents relating to them (GVI vacating the theater)
Again thanks for all that has been done for the theater and may God bless.
Please keep derogitory comments to yourself, this forum is not for that, rents are current with the owner Frank MCarthy, reciepted by the owner also. The Lawford is in possession of there signed eviction notice (Grande Venues) I am sorry that GVI wants to keep making comments that can be proven otherwise, You need but to call the owner and the Lawford,., Mr Brennan is still there, still operating the theater and current with the owner of the Theater, GVI was evicted, thanks again all, have a good day :)
Once again Robert Brennan proves that he is delusional. We were patient and even cordial. For the record, he has paid us NO rent in months so we evicted Mr Brennan. He is now playing a long game into court. The truth hurts but he will be gone soon and the theatre will be sold, again. Anyone know of a nice couple who wants to run a small theatre in a nice town? Contact our rwalor and do NOT talk to Mr. Brennan. He has no standing now at the Lawford Theatre. Call Maloof Realty. Speak with Cal Masear, GRI Work: (309) 692-3908. He is a trained professional.
Lawford Theater Update 03-05-06 GVI Paul and Mike are no LONGER leasing or have any dealings with the theater. The owner let them ‘go’. The theater can now continue to go forward. I want to thank each and every one of you who has emailed me for support and comments.
You know Paul, I admire you in a twisted sort of way. I really do. You never give up and are constantly aware of potential opportunities to paint yourself in a positive light. Never mind that one only has to scroll half way up the page to find people accusing you of thievery…the same way they have all over this site.
I think what you mean by “we own the lease” is that you couldn’t make it running the theatre, and therefore couldn’t make your lease payments. So you found a sublet…which, in answer to my question, means that you have nothing to do with the current success.
It does sound much better the way you said it though. Kind of like when you said you owned the Portage Theatre in Chicago.
There were issues that had developed with current leases that are no longer problems , there are issues, with 2 different companies that are being resolved thru legal means, the theater is now seperate from those issues, and will continue to operate and supply the community films and shows, thanks for all the letters recieved in my email from those that support the Lawford and those that had concerns and opiones of the past people,
I can assure you that “LawfordTheatre” has the best interests of the theatre in mind. We are all looking for someone who will live in Havana to operate the theatre and continue the success it now enjoys. If you want to contact a realtor, please call Cal Masear GRI Work: (309) 692-3908. He is a trained professional.
For the right person it was ava;iable, since there were ‘factors’ onvolved that are no longer a part of the theater (the old leases) GVI, then the theater can once again run and not have the problems associated with that company, we all are happy, and the towns newspapers and government support the current owner, thank you for responding and have a good day!
it was just for sale on Ebay for $100,000.00
The Lawford Theater is once again, doing good and is being renovated each and every day, the crowds are up, the people are enjoying again the only theater on town and are proud of it, see the news papers from around the area, you will see what good is happening at the Lawford!
Only to the right person will it ever be for sale again, it is open, operating, and doing fine, thanks for the comments
its amazing that this theatre is once again for sale.
We own the lease. Mr. Brennan is our tenant. He is doing a great job. Let it be.
What is your relationship to this current success Paul?
Thank you, Patrick. The Historic Lawford Theatre in downtown Havana, Illinois has been showing movies quite successfuly recently under manager Robert Brennan and Chalet Theatres, Inc. He has done a great job reopening the place. Fresh popcorn, good selection of candy and soda, new sound, and some new projection equipment. Hopefully more live events and cocnerts soon! Continued success!
