The last night of operation of this drive-in was on 28th November 1988. The 2 movies planned to be screened were “Masquerade” and “A new life”, but only 2 cars turned, so the operater sent them home and closed the drive-in.
All the streets on the streets on the Old Drive-in site Bogart Drive-in(Humphrey Bogart), Bergman Crescent(Ingrid Bergman), Green Street(Sydney Greenstreet), Lorre Court(Peter Lorre), Raines Court(Claude Raines(, and Wilson Drive(Dooley Wilson) are people who either acted in or directed the movie “Casablanca”(and possibly also the movie “The Maltese Falcon” too?).
The drive-in closed(permanently) on April 2 2922 with “Grease”. The drive-in has been sold(unknown who to?). The screen and other fittings have been sold. The speakers and speaker posts sand concrete bases were put up for sale on the Westview Drive-in Facebook page(n April 2022). The
remaining unsold speaker posts and concrete bases were offered for people to pick in person(with your vehicle) for free(in May 2022). The marquee was sold too I think?
Sturt Drive-in opened with a preview night on 10th February 1959 with “Mardi Gras”. The public opening was on 11th February 1959 with “How to marry a millionaire”.
The snack bar underneath the screen was also as a restaurant to for the passing motorists(during the day) on the Old Hume Highway, when the drive-in theatre wasn’t open.
The first hardware store on the site was Mitre 20, and later became Stratco(now closed). The exit gates are site there on the Tolley Road side of the site.
Opened on 29th July 1959 with “Tammy” and “Abbott and Costello meet the Keystone Cops”.
This drive-in theatre was also used as Victoria’s drive-in church in 1968.

The caravan park closed down(date of unknown?). The site is now a supermarket(Also) which opened in(early April 2019?).
