So far I have found ads showing it as a National General and BS Moss house. I don’t know how I never saw this place or even attended a movie here. I have a NY Times story somewhere when they first announced building it that I will locate and post.

Nothing will happen with the crooked politicians we still have in power in Queens, very sad indeed.

This was one of the longest engagements the Cinemart ever played, 56 weeks. On the one year anniversary Cinecom paid for a huge cake that we served to the customers and the staff

One of the longest runs the Cinemart ever had was 56 weeks of “A Room With A View”. On the Friday we hit 52 weeks Cinecom paid for a huge cake that we served to the customers that day.

That must be it, I have long been curious exactly where this theatre was and why it seems to not have lasted long. Longislandmovies may be able to shed some light on it.

People who attend these shows are going out of their way to attend a classic film in a landmark palace. They still have respect for film going and how to watch a movie. It’s a credit to those with kids that not one of them disrupted the audience. I saw one young family with four kids under 12 and they sat and watched the film like all the rest of us. Nice to see folks who raise kids who don’t run all over the theatre while the parents pretend not to notice so they can watch the film. I recently saw Poseidon in IMAX and this girl kept acting up in the theatre and kept cursing her mother until she gave her money for candy and video games. She never came back and must have spent the rest of the show in the lobby (the mother didn’t seem to care. She was like 12, should have been over the tantrum stage.

1972 the Cinemart was part of this Universal Blue Ribbon run of “Silent Running” and “Andromena Strain”. These usually opened at the Midway which must have had another booking.

Every couple years United Artists re-released Goldfinger paired up with another Bond feature. Here it is in 1972 with From Russia With love at the Festival. They are not calling it Premiere Showcase, they are using Red Carpet.
