A good time was had by all at the recent Bob Weir and Ratdog show at the Madison. Caution: Mr. Dog seems to be encouraging you to perform some illegal activity while listening to his music. http://tinyurl.com/5qq9cx
There aren’t any other Kuhios listed. Royal Hawaiian looks to be the chain when the photos were taken. If it can be confirmed that these photos are the Kuhio after the conversion, then Royal should be added as an aka. The few pictures we have are of the single screen theater.
There are two theater photos on this site, but they don’t seem to resemble the Kuhio as seen in the photos above. Perhaps after the conversion to a twin? http://tinyurl.com/6flla5
It shouldn’t say Catalina Island. Atlantic City is on Absecon Island. Shouldn’t all theaters in Atlantic City be listed as Atlanic City, Absecon Island, NJ, by your rationale? Avalon is the city, CA is the state. Catalina Island is not part of the address.
Great to see “Space Chimps” tapping that international market.
Thanks for clearing that up.

I don’t know. I’m not sure those photos are of this theater.

You’re right. Here is the lineup for the 1980 Oscars. I saw the film in Philly in 1981, so it must have been a re-release.

The film came out in 1981, I think. The Oscars were awarded at the ceremonies in 1982.
Here is the page from the Gordon Biersch site. Function should be bar/restaurant. Status should be closed.

They are discouraging gang-related clothing. Maybe the theater is in a bad neighborhood.
This site states that the theaters were turned into stores in the mid 1990s:

That’s too bad. It looks like it was a nice little neighborhood theater.
OK, thanks Don. I don’t imagine the space has been used as a restaurant for years.
