This was the original entrance to this building when it was just three domes (prior to the late 90’s remodel). Box offices would have flanked the doors, similar to that of the Century 22 in San Jose.
The entrance to the Edward’s Westminster Mall Cinemas in Westminster, CA looked similar to the box office/entrance area of Tanforan. Both built by UA, but the only two I’ve seen that looked so similar.
You can see a little of the big green number 4 in this picture:

Carmike named numerous theatres Wynnsong throughout the 90’s and 00’s. It’s equivalent to Cinemark calling it Tinseltown or UA having called it “The Movies!”
I remember seeing this theatre closed in the early 90’s and recall that it was more in tune with the design of the Fox Amarillo and the Buena Vista Tuscon.
This picture is surreal. So far every new AMC I’ve seen taken over by another company has had the AMC remodeled right out of it. Strange to see the AMC carpet and tile with the Cineplex logo.
This is not a picture of the Showplace 3. This is a picture of any number of Century Theatres. Judging by the Carpet it looks like the Century 16 in Union Heights, UT. (Only Century location to receive that carpet).
I was just at this mall tonight and took a picture of the boarded up space where the theatre used to be. After peering through the cracks in the boarding, it looks like the theatre has been partially gutted and is being used for storage.
Now comes the ever lasting debate of whether the name should be changed on the site or not. The building just says AMC, but the advertisements still say AMC Loews… what to do…?
Interesting that ACT III had acquired it before Cineplex Odeon ever opened it. I had always assumed that ACT III had acquired this after Lloyd Center 10 opened and made it not-profitable.
This is a picture of the interior of a typical Century Theatre c2003… not the Fox Theatre in Mdawaska, ME.
You’d think they would have repaired the glass block while they were at it… right?

Sad that AMC couldn’t find some of their old logos to stick up there and make it look original. Instead, #AMCAmazing
AMC is just doing that to all of their non-stadium locations with competition. Don’t know that it matters if that competition was Alamo or not.

Theatre is closed. Now a gym as of Feb 2015.

I’d be careful about Oracle vs. Oracle View — I think there was an Oracle Cinemas, and an Oracle View Cinemas which were different operations.

Apparently the mall has changed its name and the theatre did too. Cinemark Artegon Marketplace
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announced today that this location would be closing after business on 5/14/15. Sad. No more Showcases in Pittsburgh.
Operations ceased at this theatre at the end of business on Sunday 5/10/15.

Was this built by Riseman Architects? The picture is so GCC.

Very interesting. I often wondered how far UA took these bland-plexes. (Though I’d love to see a movie at one right now…)
Does anybody know if this was ever a Martin theatre? (It screams that it was)
If it was renamed when UA took over — who built it? Gulf States?

I’m sure National Amusements owns this property. I can’t imagine they don’t.
Awww poor ticket booth. I wonder if it ever gets used.
