That’s exactly what I did, Warren, to get the information I posted.

Thanks for your post, frankie. I’ll send you a private e-mail next.

No, Lost Memory, it’s in central Brooklyn, about fifteen blocks west of the “junction” of Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues, and Brooklyn College. It’s nowhere near Coney Island at all.

I don’t know. Apparently, one has to look in other newspapers besides Newsday to find out. I said Coney Island because there were once theatres there, and because it’s a busy, famous section of Brooklyn with lots of tourism.

Thanks for your answer, Warren, about Newsday. It’s odd that Newsday overlooks the theaters in downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, to name a few.

Thanks for your above post, EdSolero.

I think the term for the work of art installed in the abandoned Myrtle Avenue subway station is “zoetrope”.

Please post your priceless memories here, Panzer65, if you haven’t already. Thanks. I’d love to read them.

No, Panzer65, I’ve never been to the RKO Keith’s Richmond Hill as an operating theater. I was last there Saturday, July 8th, 2006. I posted my “trip report” on the page for RKO Keith’s Richmond Hill on this site. I think it showed its last film around 1970. Bway may have more details.

Thanks, Warren. Interesting that it’s 10 to 7 blocks uptown of Claremont Avenue on Broadway, adjacent to CCNY, rather than Columbia.

Thanks, Warren. Would that have been on or near Claremont Avenue, north of 116th Street, between Bway and Riverside Drive, near Columbia University ? Do you recall when the change occurred ? Does the Claremont have its own page on Cinema Treasures ?

Thanks, Warren and ERD. The Bushwick section of Brooklyn most certainly had its share of auto dealerships. I think the one at Bushwick Avenue and Decatur Street had a signboard outside displaying info from World Series baseball games.

I’m not sure about the relationship between car dealerships and theatres, however : if one was ever used as the other.

I’m no expert on this, but the Queens car dealerships I am most familiar with are the ones at the Ridgewood – Maspeth – Middle Village nexus centered around the intersection of Fresh Pond Road, and Metropolitan and Eliot Avenues, near the Oasis Theater, and Lawrence Chevrolet, formerly Luby Chevrolet, near Queens and Yellowstone Blvds. in Forest Hills, between the Trylon and that “movie complex” that once centered around Queens Blvd, Continental Avenue and Austin Street (Midway, Forest Hills and Continental 1, 2, 3 Cinemas).

My dad remembers car dealerships on Bushwick Avenue from Gates Avenue to Eastern Pkwy. Now, there’s only that used car lot at Bushwick and Eastern Pkwy.

Thanks, Bway.

As I have posted already, I was last in the Ridgewood on Saturday, Sept. 12th 1992. It seemed OK then.

Yes, exaggeation can be the “spice of life” (and of fansite posting) at times.

Thanks, Bway. I saw “For The Love Of Benji” at the Oasis in early January 1976, the only film I ever saw there.

That’s an interesting point, Warren, and thanks for posting it.

Does Newsday purport to cover all of Brooklyn and Queens ?

Have you, or do you intend to, contact Newsday about their error ?

Bushwick Buddies is a great site, Panzer65. Hope to see you there soon. Bway (Chris) is there already, and has contributed many amazing and worthwhile images.

I’m sorry you’ve missed me, but feel complimented by it just the same. You might be surprised at what I can believe, given what I’ve already seen of Chris' contributions. I’ll try and get back soon.

Here’s something : on the Colonial Theater page ( # 7929 ) I found out from “Peter L” that Schmearman’s Jewish deli bakery was right across Bway from this theatre, on the northeast side of Bway, between Cooper and Moffat Sts.

I’m hoping that “BrooklynJim”, a relative newcomer to this site, will join Bushwick Buddies, if he hasn’t already.

Also, Panzer65, please say “hi” to both Jahn’s and RKO Keith’s Richmond Hill, for me. Thanks.

Hi, bushwickbuddy. Good to see you here again. Sorry I haven’t been on Bushwick Buddies for awhile. I will be back there sooner or later.

Panzer65, I think you will enjoy RKO Keith’s Richmond Hill, because, unlike the RKO Madison, it still so obviously looks like a movie theater inside. So much so, that it looked and felt so odd to me, when I was there Saturday July 8 2006 last year, to walk around the orchestra, where once were movie seats, and see bare floor, aisles, and tables of goods instead, and to be able to walk around where once I wouldn’t have been able to, because of all the seats.
