The Children’s Museum has placed the Hollywood Theater for sale. The museum was looking to at least break even with the theater, but has come up far short of that goal. Hopefully someone will buy and operate the largest movie house in the city.
Indeed, the political signage amounted to one sign in the former ticket booth, not exactly offensive as might have been inferred from the previous comment. Anyway, the upkeep does need to be improved and the restrooms are in dire need of repair and renovation. With some care and renovation, this theater could become the Spanish palace it originally was.
The Cinema is now undergoing a major renovation and expansion to bring the total number of screens to 11. This complex is by far the nicest in the region.
Unfortunately, Marcus Theaters quietly closed the King Cinema on November 24, 2004. The building is vacant and there are no known plans for the facility.
Alas, the King Theater is simply a vacant lot at this point. There is nothing to remind one of the theater that once occupied the spot.
