i seen the pictures and videos, of the tinker street cinema , i want to say to the owner thats a cute little cinema , thanks for posting the videos and letting us all look at your theatre .
Movie cinemas i don’t think will be in a recession , everyone know how the economy is right now , i don’t think its going to hurt the movie cinema business that bad , there may be some to go out of business and more to start up again. cause its about the only place these days where you can go have some entertainment for a good price , of course at the right theater where the price is right. like reasonable admission prices and consession prices . that is what Americans are wanting these days a bargain where you can go have a fun time with the family. but my self they probley be making more action movies and comedies and alot of computer anamation for the kiddies , i think thats whats going to draw more people in.
its was a sad day , for many people in the bluefield,wv area . more so with the people that had went to it as a child even worked there. years and years ago. the picures recently since the old hotel fell the old colonial theatre doesn’t look soo good. i am sure the old cinema has so many memorys for so many and many people.
i seen a double feature there in 2005 , around 4 years ago when war of the worlds and the longest yard had came out . i have to say it was a great experience for a first time drive in theater. i have to say there food was good they had pizzia,hotdogs and there fresh popcorn with butter was grand!. and the prices was affordable. when they had changed ownership and management. i don’t if there prices are still the same or not. i will forever remember this grand drive-in!
many older residents remember the clinch and remember going to it when they were kids when living in the Tazewell area. most often talk about the clinch and remember the good times and movies they seen there. it looked like a fine cinema and a great experience for so many residents of Tazewell county.
The lee cinema 1&2 has around 480 seats. the Theatre is now closed. after trying to keep the heat system up and running and business around there was poor. in April 2008 it under went major repairs has new floors major cleaning new paint etc. i am sure anyone that went to this cinema before it opened back up in June 2008 it was in bad shape. almost everyone had quit going cause of its bad reputation ,and poor management and ownership. in June of 2008 it opened up with new ownership and management. and better service and better food at the consession stand and better movies . business never did really pick back up. and later closed it’s doors in Jan. 2009 . if any one has any pictures or memory’s about this old twin cinema. please feel free to share.
since its closing in 1984 , later years . a major chain grocery store called food lion bought the property to build there store there. which has been there for around about 14 years. if anyone has any pictures or any other old info about this old drive-in please feel free to comment.
