A tragedy to let a beautiful theatre like this crumble away. The detail work is remarkable and proscenium alone is incredible. Ceiling work too. Save the building!
The Oak Tree was a real step up. Still one of the best theatres in Seattle. Hope it has a long life ahead. Very well maintained and big screens and good sound.
I saw a couple Cinerama films back in the day at this great theatre. 2001 was just one. I also saw Blade Runner in a cinerama sized similar process at this theatre in the 80’s and Days of Heaven here too in this similar process. Exit door to exit door width. Identical to cinerama. It’s great this wonderful place was saved from the wrecking ball. Only wish the UA 150 was also saved. Also a huge screen and the best presentation always. Have seen countless films there as well. Lets not forget the Orpheum, Music Hall, Coliseum, Palomar, Liberty, Wilkes, Northgate, and Egyptian in University. The Cinerama at least was saved.
Wonderful interior details in the theatre. Proscenium is so elaborate and creative. Hope the theatre can survive unchanged and original for years to come.
Wow. Jeff Buckley at the King. It was a special theatre in many ways, I saw The Great Gatsby there in the 80’S I think it was. The whole area around what was the UA 150 and King and great Music Hall and Orpheum has lost it’s sense of style. A great city needs to hold on to some sense of it’s past also. Look at Rome and Paris. Now there is a quality of greatness and also honor for their past glory.
I think this waterfall curtain is beautiful. I went to this theatre often as a kid. Saw Hush Hush Sweet Charlote here and also Invasion of the Body Snatchers original and remake. Many other films of course too. The Crest is historic for Seattle in many ways.

I think the original auditorium has been cut down in length to give room to the creation of the 2 newer small theatres. The original theatre was much longer and bigger. Was in it many times as a kid. The Crest is still one of the best theatres in Seattle. I also enjoy the Oak Tree 6, Majestic Bay and Edmonds. They retain a smaller classic theatre feel. The huge multiplex theatres leave me COLD.
An elegant auditorium and ceiling detail. Huge wide screen too. Art deco at it’s finest.

Not the best interior design success shown here. Vintage proscenium does not match the size of the screen. Maybe have a much wider valance over the newer screen and a curtain to go with it. I like the ceiling detail and great lighting.
Good Rite Aid had the class to at least keep the blade sign up I hear. Too bad the theatre did not survive. Much of Broadway is history as far as unique shops, bars and restaurants. Gone forever to corporate dust.

Interesting. Rather haunting look. Most unusual. The lighting in the auditorium is handsome. Art deco and dramatic.
Is that marble on those walls? Nice clean 1940’s look on this great theatre.
Nice post moderne proscenium and lighting. Curtain is lovely too.
Beautiful art deco marquee. Box office is great too. Like the ring style lights.

Does someone have a pic of the interior of the auditorium? Would be nice. The exterior is so handsome.
Beautiful elaborate details make this one of the best!

Handsome art deco building that is a treasure for all of Alaska. One of a kind.

A elaborate ceiling and proscenium. Lighting is lovely too. Hope it survived Katrina.

I think the original auditorium un-modernized was superior.
Handsome marquee and lights. Good designs.
Do the curtains hide great plaster detailing which is often the case. Nice large screen but where is the old theatre beauty. Not here.
Sad to do this to an elaborate vintage building like this. Any pics of the interior before being torn apart?

Great rounded neon and globe marquee. Also interesting curved tile surrounding movie poster displays.
Kind of an art deco look to this large building. Blade signage is dramatic.
