My friend and I worked for Mann in this part of the state as projectionists. He was the first projectionist for this small tri-plex. I remember the opening night that December of 1976 (seat count is way off…each house held 220 seats..). I worked there on a part-time relief basis until 1979 when my friend left the Alameda for other ventures.. Bit of a fun working here..
I remember the Trolley Cinemas 4 back in the 70’s when it was just an independent theatre. Hey, do we remember the “interesting” uniforms of the concession girls-their “Keystone” outfits of a button jacket, blouse, “keystone” policeman’s hat, and those “hotpants” with purple stockings?
Do we remember 1975? The year that “Jaws” began what was called “the summer blockbuster” movies? One can still remember the parking lot just crammed with cars of car owners filling the Regency to see Steven Spielberg’s shark movie at this famous theatre. Yes, I saw “Close Encounters” and “TRON” at the Regency. I would drive down from E. Idaho to see many movies at the Regency.
Going to see a movie, such as “Towering Inferno”, in the summer of 1975, was a treat at the Century 21 and that HUGE curved screen. Then I saw “Tommy” at the 22 and the 23 (being the other side was split for a twin. Finally, the last film I saw at the 23 was “Star Trek I” but unfortunate a very uneventful experience was experienced. This was the beginning of the end for the Century 21 complex. Miss those “domes” – Monte

I remember seeing “Oliver” -the musical at the Cottonwood before the auditorium split. What a grand house this was with that huge screen!
