I’m living in Nassau County Long Island New York and just retired after 35 years working for a major New York Bank as a Compliance person. I’ve been retired for 6 months now and am loving it!
I lived in the old neighborhood from 1954-1995. Probably lived there 20 years to long LOL!!! It was pretty lousy by the time we moved. I lived with my Uncle who passed away in 1994 and that was when we sold the house.
I lived on Jamaica Avenue between Norwood Avenue and Logan Street. PS 65 was on Richmond Street. You are correct that 171 was on Ridgewood and Lincoln. We were one of the last original families to move away from the neighborhood. I do remember the Haven theater. The matron’s there were the pits LOL!!! Where did you live?
Just found this site…Wonderfull memories of all the places I grew up with. Lived on Jamaica Avenue from 1954-1995. Went to PS 65, JHS 171, Franklin K. Lane. Does anyone remember the Fish Market on Fulton Street and Norwood that sold French Frys for 25 cents in a brown paper bag? They were the best!

To PKoch,
Do you still reside in the area? What do you do for a living?

To PKoch,
Where did you go to school in Ridgewood? I went to Franklin K Lane High School and graduated in 1972.
