have few pics of interior of this theater from few years ago from the mayor of Taunton Charlie Crowley will try to upload when feature is available. its shame city does not do more to keep this treasure. The Strand and Park Theaters were razed for a now defunct drugstore BOTH wre great old theaters that could have been restored

Still a damn shame they razed the whole interior!!! I spent many happy hours in there back in the 70’s :( Would love to see any pictures of interior if anyone has any?? thnx

wish someone had some/any pictures of this theater… and yes from what I understand the Strand was built specificaly for pictures and from what I remember had only one balcony where the park had 2 so was considrably larger

actually would ANYbody have any interior photos from some of the boston theaters? I lived there in the 70’s above the old gary theater and reguarley went to the Gary the Savoy the Saxon all those great old Sack theaters.

I remember this theater having 2 balconies it was an amazing place for a kid in the late 50’s early 60’s…. I saw Doris Day in Jumbo there and the screen had a little blue patch on it !!! It was demolished in the early 70’s along with the Strand next door.. I was able to get in and look around a bit…the whole back ( screen ) area was already gone but we couls sit in seats in the 2nd balcony and imagine again . Found some press sheets or giveaways as they were called for Children of the damned reckon that was the last film to be shown. Would LOVE to hear from anybody with memories of this great theater and pictures!!!!

I remember going to the Strand theater in Taunton fo at least 3 years in a row to watch Santa Clause!! that was our tradition for kids in the early 60’s and have been trying to collect other films from Murray ever since!! Look forward to the DVD release as well as any updates to this!!!

Damn I can remember seeing those dusk to dawn nites at the Seekonk!!! a case of beer and still had to get the hot dogs!! LOL What nites they were!!!

I remember going every weekend to the Strand as well as the Park which was next door although few times at the park!! VERY good memories of the Strand fromt he early Elvis to Beach party and would love to get some PICS!!! am trying to writean article on Taunton history and would appreciate ANY help!!! Thnx marty

I can attest to the plaster falling durin Earthquake!!! I was there with a so called girlfriend and also lived in the apartments next door during 75 We had cards that let us in any of the sack theaters as they were known then for 50 cents for certain shows!!!Man I would love to relive those days!!! I remember seeing the then X rated Fritx the cat at the paramount when it first came out…I skipped school from Taunton Mass with a friend to see our FIRST x rated flick!! after moving to Boston in the 70’s I did sit thru a Thangsgiving program of ALL Planet of the apes flicks believe it was round 74 or 75!!! Also remember all the ADULT theaters there in late 70;s as well Marty
