Lawrence commented about Theater For Sale? on Jan 6, 2004 at 12:47 pm

I checked out the site, theatersforsale.com
and am still waiting for an email reply – 7 days now.
Frustrating to say the least. Perhaps a phone call would produce
a quicker response.

Who runs this as a movie theater right now ?
Is this a United Artist/Regal operation or is it closed
and renovating for a new owner?

I saw movies there in the early 80’s when its admission was $2.
I recall how cold the auditorium was as they had no heat according to the management. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the show and tasty popcorn.

Are there any other movie houses in Roanoke? I heard
there used to be a twin that competed with the
GRANDIN back in the early 90’s. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Does anyone know how to reach Julie Hunsaker?
Did her husband pass away? I met her them both at a SHOWEST
CONVENTION where she was honored for her outstanding work
at the Grandin Theater.

There are plans for the Southland building to be torn down and replaced by retail spaces according to the shopping center leasing
agent as of this past Summer.

Roger, do you happen to know the exact mileage from the Country Cinema to the big screen plexes in the larger city – door to door?
I am a film buyer for independent theater operators and have been
very successful in breaking “clearances” depending on mileage
and population, demographics, etc. Just Curious if I might be able
to help this little guy out.

What a shame that this cute house is in such disrepair.
Being the only cinema in this community, I wonder why the owner
does not attempt to run 1st Run fare and charge only a $5 admission
which is completely acceptable in a country town venue?
With such a policy he could probably make more money and upgrade
the house into a solid profitmaker.

Is this the only movie house in Watertown CT?
Does anyone know “who” the owner is by chance?
How to get intouch with them maybe?

Whatever happened to the CINE 3 located down the street
which was an old SYUFY house from the 50’s ?

I am a film booking agent located near this movie house.
I would be very interested in assisting with the group
involved in its revitalization. If anyone can connect me
with these folks I’d be very grateful. It’s so nice to see
this house come back to life again. Feel free to email me
anytime:

Something is going on with this movie house and if Dolby is parked in front, you can expect it will reopen at some point soon.

What a treasure of a theater – now to be saved.
I am a film buyer who would be most interested in
working with the folks who are reopening this classic
venue for art and foreign films.

Lawrence commented about Until Next Time.... for the "Enean" on Dec 22, 2003 at 5:34 pm

Was the ENEAN ever called THE VOGUE in downtown Pittsburg?
Curious. I visited THE VOGUE over ten years ago and it was
operating as a discount movie house. Is it still there?
Does anyone have information about THE VOGUE in downtown Pittsburg CA??? Last operator was an independent older guy – he was the only
cinema in Pittsburg at the time … early 90’s.

New World Pictures “ANGEL” premiered at this house in the early 80’s.
Reduced to exploitation titles, this palace of yesteryear still survived and turned in exceptional grosses. I certainly hope that one day it can be returned to its origanal grandeur and become a treasure for all of us to enjoy once again.

Lawrence commented about Winchester Twin Theatre on Dec 14, 2003 at 9:56 am

Was this house built by the Syufy Family who owns Century Theaters
based out of S.F. Bay Area ? It bears a striking resemblance to many of its early 60’s dome type theatres which specialized in running
big roadshow pictures.
