Apparently not as bad as thought, Ian.

A church group has taken it over and would like to see it/offer it to used for cinema use again, maybe carefully and resepctfully adding two more screens inside : with occasional use for church congregation overspill : similarly to the Notting Hill Coronet.

These are the last 5 in my set on the Waikiki : they are lo res at the moment as I have to scan them in at higher res and replace as time permits.

thanks for your (sad) article : I am currently hoping to have about 7 more classic pictures sent to me prior to scanning : (original photo’s from the 40’s and a hand tinted interior post card ) of the much missed Waikiki theatre added to my flickr site : I have some linked on Cinema Treasures already.

Bob asked what’s the screen difference between D 150 and Cinerama.

I believe D 150 as the name suggests hit 150 degrees and an aspect ratio of 2.7:1, whereas Cinerama hit 146 degrees and an aspect ratio of 2.66 :1 : pretty darn close !

With Sarasa being shot 65mm 5 perf ( Todd-AO ) : how many theatres are left in the States that can show 5 perf ( as opposed to 15 Imax, or 8 perf Iwerks ).

Great to see Ron Fricke doing his 5 perf stuff ahain : Baraka was fantastic.

Fab picture you found Howard : I used to go there as a kid,,but when it had been sub-divided and the upper circle was shut off from the main auditorium !
