I live in this god-forsaken hole now and I can say this about the “Starlight;”
I moved here in the late 80s and the screen was still standing, albeit ravaged by the elements and lack of upkeep. The entrance was just off US 441 (Columbia Street) on Hammock Road. The site is now occupied by the remains of Wal*Mart and Winn-Dixie (both recently closed).
My wife was born and raised here and has fond memories of seeing movies there as a child. Currently there is only a single six screen theater in town.
For information about this theater contact Hattaway Accounting Service in Milledgeville (they should be in the Yellow Pages). Mr. Hattaway owns the theater building and is asking a pretty penny for it.
I’d love to help out with any restoration project but some yokel is likely to buy it and make into another bar and grill.
The Sunwave must have become a twin at some point. I remember seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark and a 9 to 5/Cannonball Run double feature there on the same day.
The last movie I saw there was Gremlins.
And correct me if I’m wrong…
wasn’t Play World in this shopping center? When did that place go out of business?

I’m positive that it was a twin when I lived in Patchogue. This is the theater I think of when I smell air popped corn.
