Not to do over any one but as the theater listing states at the time this theater opened at a 2 screen General Cinema and was later split to a 4 at some point likely in the late 80s.

Rick, as Patrick said above I believe photos are in the works for now but this makes a big step. I’m sure whatever they come up with its going to be classy and worth the wait.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Comcast acquiring Fandango.

From professional experience working in the field and as a customer Comcast really enjoys messing up or just washing out anything they get their hands on. This will not end well.

Since i’m not from the area, is there any hope to another chain acquiring this place?

With no disrespect to the prior eras of cinemas, I truly love this age of theatres. Mark you are exactly right. Big everything! A day when 1, 2 and 3 screen theater ruled the landscape.

Man was I born in the wrong era! (1985)

I was glad they picked up the original Old Orchard and kept it hanging on for just a bit longer. The same goes to say for a lot of these theaters. Hard to believe a chain could come and go so quick, They invested a lot into a couple of the theaters.

Coming from experience a lot can change. In recent months at the mega I’m at slowly but surly floor operations and presentation are improving and getting better and better. With all the theaters I’ve worked at it seems like the building its self noticed that people are trying to better the place and the whole feel of the theater changes. Its the oddest feeling.

alex35mm commented about MoPix system could revolutionize theater experience for some on Feb 28, 2007 at 11:34 am

DTS came out with something almost exactly like this a few years ago, and this is almost a complete rip off. One theater in my area has this incororated into a few of the auditoriums although I have never seen any one use it.

I’ll admit that the MoPix version is a lot cheeper.

Because the upkeep of an old multiplex is essentual for a smooth oporating theater and great effects the surrounding neighborhood. Everything matters.

That’s one of the number one reasons I’d buy the village art and completely jazz it up to fit with the neighborhood. If I had the cash. Under the right movies and advertising that place could and still occasially does do quite well. I never was able to find a reason why they don’t publish showtimes, however I have a feeling it’s that they don’t really care how well the theaters do.

“That’s village for ya..”

I know for a fact that that Village Ent. is a crash and burn chain. The company is horribly run, disorganized, corrupt and most of all these people have no business running a theater as they simply do not have an understanding of what can make a movie theater so special and have a complete lack of showmanship. Don’t even get me started on presentation as most of the Village’s around Chicago. I’m honestly un-sure how the chain sustains its self and doesn’t just completely implode.

As for classic, well, they seem to actually care and have their head on straight.

Justin Fencsak: It may also be the theater your going to. Maybe they dont have someone taking care of that projector, or no one at that theater really knows how to focus right. In my exsperience film is not done right at many theaters and thats created a bad rap and a push for digital. When film is done right, nothing beats it.

I thought the six month window was great. It was a nice delay and made things less over saturated. Most movies come out, and are done with their theater run in around 3 weeks. Thats the sad fact that the theater chains need to work on, and then I think they should slowly start pushing the window back. But then again, one may also say if they made better movies they wouldnt burn out as fast in theaters…

alex35mm commented about Muvico founder to offer movies -- and much more on Jan 22, 2007 at 8:47 am

I would consider my self a young professinal. All I’m looking for in a movie theater is that it be relaxed. Perferably with sleekly lit auditoriums and lobbies with lounge/chill out music playing during the intermission in the auditoriums and not have any ads or preshow network and the theater is oporated to be just as much as a lounge as it is a movie theater.

I’m part of a chain that likes lots of noise and anoying stuff everywhere and I’m very insterested to see when people will realize and just get fed up. I like Muvico’s idea, but I think there taking it a few steps too far. People don’t want a curcis, which is what
the AMC river east in chicago is(and is similar to muvico’s idea. A modern 21 screen complex with a complete bar lounge, resturaunt and boowling ally, only its so crowded and dissorgninised on the weekends its way more stressful then it should be.

Not sure if it would work but I truly wish a theater chain would start to attract and focus the smaller nighborhood crowds that don’t want to go to a huge massive complex and are just looking to relax and not be bombarded with tons of people, noise, distractions (and ads) and have a drink.
